Douglas Kim is the Executive Director of Wine for MGM Resorts International and is based in Las Vegas, Nevada. He grew up in Chicago, IL and dreamed of becoming a chef after having fun in local culinary competitions, which led him to the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, New York. From there, he moved to Las Vegas to attend the University of Nevada Las Vegas to complete his bachelor’s degree in hospitality management. After graduating, he worked his way through the industry at restaurants such as Restaurant Charlie by Charlie Trotter, Aureole Las Vegas by Charlie Palmer, Picasso at Bellagio and has now been in his current position for three years.
It was during a 3-week wine course at the CIA where he first learned about the Court of Master Sommeliers, and knew he wanted to become a Master Sommelier. In 2018, that came to fruition. He is one of very few Master Sommeliers that can say he passed the exam twice. On his days off, he can be found with his wife and two young children.
